Are you spinning your wheels, getting no where fast? You have the beautiful site, you joined the company of the century that is promoting the product that will revolutionize the world, yet you can’t seem to get anyone to go to your site. Are you financially strapped? If so, there are many ways to generate low cost website traffic without having to spend your child’s lunch money. Here are some suggestions that the average person can do to bring traffic to their site.

First, try writing a newsletter about the products you are promoting. This might seem difficult, at first, but in this information age, there is no shortage of content on anything you want to write about. I am not saying that it will be easy to write your first newsletter, but once you get the first one out there, the next ones seem very simple. After writing your newsletter, send it to all of your contacts. In this first newsletter ask for their help. Ask what is most interesting to them and what they would like to hear about. Make this an interactive newsletter. Also, make sure you tell them to forward this newsletter onto their contact list, so they can sign up as well. You would be surprised at how many new people sign up on your list just through referrals.

Next, there is article marketing. There are many great sites out there looking for articles with great content. Write about what you know and love and share your thoughts in an article format. If this sounds too time consuming, there are free lance article writers who would love to write short articles for a small fee. If you need to pinch every penny, then you can write your own. If you have a fear that no one will want to read it, run it by a few friends first, to proof the article for you. If it interests them, it will definitely be of interest to others on the internet.

Once you get comfortable writing articles, you will then want to write articles pertaining to the business and products that you are promoting. Although you can’t sell your products in the article, most article directories will allow you to place your site in the Resource box at the end of the article. This way people enjoying your article can take a look at what you do as a business.

A third method to increase traffic to your site is to exchange links with other site owners, related to your site. Many site owners are willing to place a link to your site in exchange for you placing a link to their site. This increases traffic in both directions with little or no effort.

Exchanging links also increase your chances of getting a higher ranking in search engine results. Search Engines rank high sites that have both inbound and outbound links that are related to the site. With a better ranking, the traffic is usually higher with no additional expense.

Another type of exchange that is quite popular these days is Traffic Exchange. These sites are designed to allow people to place their site on a rotation basis for others to view. You can either pay to have your site seen, or you can earn credits by viewing other peoples sites. There is usually a set amount of time that you need to stay on someone’s site to count as a “view”, such as 15 or 30 seconds. This guarantees that you are actually on the site and not just clicking through to gain credits.

A final and inexpensive way to gain traffic to your site is through forums and online communities. Usually no money is required, but you will need to plan on spending a great deal of time on these sites. You can go into the forums and write about what you know, hopefully, it relates to the content on your site. In your resource box at the end of your post, you can place the link to your site for others to go to if they are interested in learning more about you or your business.

In conclusion, don’t let money be an excuse for low traffic. These are just a few ways to increase traffic with little or no expense.
